The Swope and Sipe Family

With over 40 years of collective experience, our practice has been in the Hellam area for 25 years of that time. We pride ourself in our ability to provide old-school personal service while still utilizing the necessary technology to provide the most up-to-date and efficient services to our clients. Our goal is to assist your family with all of your legal needs that may arise from one generation to another.

Donald B. Swope

Donald B. Swope was born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He graduated from McCaskey High School and then went on to Millersville University with the intent of becoming a teacher. He taught at Conestoga Valley while attending graduate school at Temple in Philadelphia before being accepted at the Law School of the University of Denver in Colorado.

After employment in the International Division of Univac-Sperry Rand with responsibility for the legal affairs of the American Division, he accepted the position of the founding Executive Director of Tri County Legal Services (now Mid Penn Legal Services) before entering the private practice of law in which he has been engaged for over 40 years.

He served in the United States Marine Corp from which he has been honorably discharged. In addition to numerous church callings throughout the years, he has served in various public service positions, including President of the Fire Commission of York City, President and board member of Historic Wrightsville, and as a volunteer at York County Agency on Aging.

Admitted to practice before the state and federal bars of Pennsylvania, he is also a member of the York and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. He is married to Sharon Nickol Swope and is the father of twelve children, six of whom are adopted.

Alexis K. Sipe

Alexis K. Lehman Sipe is a native of York County. She graduated from York County High School, then obtained an Associate’s Degree from Consolidated School of Business and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Central Pennsylvania College. While working toward her Bachelor’s Degree, Alexis held the position of a paralegal at a law firm in Lancaster County, where she remained until being accepted to Widener University School of Law where she earned her Juris Doctorate.

While attending law school, she interned for two semesters at the York County District Attorney’s Office under the supervision of Tom Kearney. Alexis entered private practice with Donald Swope in 2011 and has taken on the task of updating the practice to the 21st Century via increased use of computers, software and the internet.

Admitted to practice before the state bar of Pennsylvania, she is also a member of the York and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. Alexis has four children and in her spare time, she enjoys participating in her older children’s school and sporting activities and becoming involved in various community events.

Michele Duncan

Michele Duncan grew up in East Berlin, Pennsylvania and graduated from Bermudian Springs High School. She went on to attend Yorktowne Business Institute where she obtained her Legal Secretarial Specialized Associate’s Degree. Michele began working with Attorney Swope in 1988 and has remained ever since. Michele is currently an assistant to both Attorneys Swope and Sipe. She maintains all files, drafts correspondence and pleadings and interacts with clients on a daily basis.

Michele and her husband Michael have five grown children. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening and knitting and volunteers at the Helen O. Krause Animal Foundation.
